COVID-19: PCR Testing as well as Rapid Antigen Testing

All CareSpot and MedPost locations now offer two types of COVID-19 testing: Rapid Antigen Testing and PCR Testing, while supplies last.  FIND A LOCATION

When you come to CareSpot or MedPost for COVID-19 testing, a provider will evaluate your symptoms and possible exposure to COVID-19. Based on that evaluation, they will determine whether you should receive a rapid test or a PCR test.

Rapid (Antigen) Testing: These tests use a nasal swab to detect the presence of a viral antigen, which implies that a person has a viral infection. Results from these tests are generally available in one hour or less.

Rapid antigen tests do not definitively rule out active COVID-19 illness. If your rapid test shows a negative result but you have COVID-19 symptoms, your provider may recommend a PCR test.

PCR Testing: Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests use a nasal swab that is then sent out to a laboratory. Processing times for these tests vary but results are generally available in about two days. These types of test are widely considered to be the most accurate on the market.
